This film tells the story of scholar Fang Dong who endangers his life because of his greed for beauty, and his kind-hearted Ya who loves Fang Dong deeply and chooses to sacrifice herself in exchange for Fang Dong. The prodigal son Fang Dong embarks on a journey to find his true love, and encounters and rescues an oppressed kind-hearted banshee on the road.
