Three Strangers (2021)

Ma Soe, a high school dropout with a traveling troupe, has sworn off marriage because she doesn’t want to end up with a drunk like her father. At a village event, Gwa To sees Ma Soe sing and falls in love. After a brief period of courtship, Ma Soe and Gwa To live together as a couple. Their relationship is tested when Gwa To brings home a two-month old boy, Phoe Htoo, put up for adoption.
Trans Glamoré (2023)

Luxuria entered parliament and with her emerged a social cross-section of an Italy that is changing in spite of prejudice. The coming of age story of Shéár Avory, a 17 year old trans* aspiring social justice advocate in Los Angeles who navigates housing instability and familial dependency on their journey to adulthood. Shéár depends closely on their mother for continued access to their medical transition, though struggling in her recovery from addiction, she is unable to always offer Shéár the support they need. An observational piece, the film aims to ask, what does coming into adulthood actually look like, for a young Black trans* femme in today’s America?
The Third Gender (2013)

I Don't Know (1971)
A truly major work, I Don’t Know observes the relationship between a lesbian and a transgender person who prefers to be identified somewhere in between male and female, in an expression of personal ambiguity suggested by the film’s title. This nonfiction film – an unusual, partly staged work of semi-verité – is the first of Spheeris’s films to fully embrace what would become her characteristic documentary style: probing, intimate, uncompromising. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2014.
